You don't know how you’re supposed to feel, Is your head rolling around again, and again But you don’t, no you don’t know what you came for And you won’t, no you won’t talk about it at all, at all And you try your best, and you don’t succeed, and you God damn risked it all, And you don’t know how and you don’t know when Just hold me like you wanna, Hold me like you feel like you did, I’m not gonna be the one to tell you, You’re acting like a kid, Hold me like you wanna, I don’t want you to feel like I did so, You don’t have to say anything, Tell me more about yourself Are you sick of night in hotels Won’t you take what I don’t spend I don’t want you to worry And when you try and speak you think that you sound stupid in front of me Don’t talk if you don’t want to And you try your best, and you don’t succeed, and you God damn risked it all, And you don’t know how and you don’t know when Just hold me like you wanna Hold me like you feel like you did I’m not gonna be the one to tell you You’re acting like a kid Hold me like you wanna I don’t want you to feel like I did so You don’t have to say anything And you try your best, and you don’t succeed, and you God damn risked it all, And you don’t know how and you don’t know when And you try your best, and you don’t succeed, and you God damn risked it all, And you don’t know how and you don’t know when Just hold me like you wanna Hold me like you feel like you did I’m not gonna be the one to tell you You’re acting like a kid Hold me like you wanna I don’t want you to feel like I did so You don’t have to say anything

about

"20-Something" is in equal parts refined and expansive, being the most powerful and representative artistic statement of his work so far. Topics range from anger and disillusionment with the powers that be, to a nostalgic love song about friendship. Themes of personal growth permeate throughout, with a DIY attitude being evident in its overall sound and feel.

These songs were written in a pre-pandemic environment, but the seismic changes in the world since their inception has given new and deeper meanings to their subject matter, making the songs even more important to the artist and his band.

Coming from very different musical backgrounds, the group’s chemistry and sound is developing at alarming rates, and the new EP is a huge testament to that.

Lead singer and band leader Cian has said: “20-Something is the first real taste of who I want to be as an artist and as a songwriter. It’s inspired by music I actually listen to on a regular basis. Everything before this has just been to test the waters, but for the first time since this started it feels like this is what I’m really about.”

Keen on not shying away from real world problems, Cian’s lyrics comment on personal and political issues. In opening himself up, he hopes "20-Something" connects with the listener on a much deeper level than before, especially given the situation in the world at the moment.

The debut EP "20-Something" from Somebody’s Child was released on August 7th, 2020.

Somebody's Child Dublin, Ireland

Starting his musical journey at age 5 in Paris, Cian Godfrey (AKA Somebody's Child) took to playing the piano in the family apartment. Upon moving back to Ireland, Cian gained an interest in songwriting, enabling him to tell his own stories. These narratives often reflect upon difficult mental health experiences, as well as the endearing happenings of a youngster growing up in Dublin. ... more
