V1: I wanna get out of here, I wanna get out, It’s giving me so much fear, I can’t stop feeling it now, I have only got one friend, I hope he won’t mind, I said I wouldn't leave him here, So I can’t leave him behind. Ch: I will try, I will always try to, Be your friend but I cannot deny I’ve tried before and you were just so hard to talk to So maybe we find ourselves a palm tree, Go away, live like in the movies, We can never find all that we want from here V2: I need to get of here, I just need to get out, I’m sick of the games we play at the amusement park, So much anxiety, Those childhood memories have stuck with me all my life, Oh I’ve got somewhere to be Ch: I will try, I will always try to, Be your friend but I cannot deny I’ve tried before and you were just so hard to talk to So maybe we find ourselves a palm tree, Go away, live out of the country, We can never find all that we want from here Br: Let’s do it. Ooooh. Aaaah. Ch: I will try, I will always try to, Be your friend but I cannot deny I’ve tried before and you were just so hard to talk to So maybe we find ourselves a palm tree, Go away, live like in the movies, We can never find All that we want from here

CRAZY 03:48
I’m such a fucking loser in my head I don’t even know what I just said When I saw you I’m contemplating thoughts to pass the time Got too many things racing through my mind Have you ever questioned if you’re crazy? They all say I’m a waster 'cause I’m lazy I’m terrified of strangers I thought maybe That I need help I only wanted to be cool 'Cause I’ve been lonely almost all my life, so How’d you know if you are going crazy? I always found it best to play the fool And I think that I’ve found it hardest lately But maybe it’s the fact I’m missing you They say that you’re the average of your friends But I was never good at maths so I can’t tell And I put you on a pedestal I guess And now I've lost count I only wanted to be cool 'Cause I’ve been lonely almost all my life, so How’d you know if you are going crazy? I always found it best to play the fool And I think that I’ve found it hardest lately But maybe it’s the fact I’m missing you 'Cause we can love And we can fall But I just wanna be there right with you 'Cause we can love And we can fall But I just wanna be there right with you How’d you know if you are going crazy? I always found it best to play the fool And I think that I’ve found it hardest lately But maybe it’s the fact I’m missing you I’m missing you you you you I’m missing you you you you I’m missing you you you you I’m missing you you you you

Stubborn 03:08
V1; Do you come here alone, Do you come here when the tables turn, Could you get off your throne, Try and sympathise with someone but yourself, Are you the victim of love, Or is it more that you couldn’t give enough, Why are you always alone x 3 Ch: Cause you’re so stubborn, And you think you’re always right, Cause you’re so stubborn, Oh. V2: So tell me, Don’t you wonder why you’re always left crying, Cause you’re insane, And you left me out to dry, And you told me I was wrong, Then you tell me i’m right, Next you say that I’m crazy, Well can’t you make up your mind Ch: Cause you’re so stubborn, And you think you’re always right, Cause you’re so stubborn, Oh. Br: And you’re so stubborn x4 Ch: Cause you’re so stubborn, And you think you’re always right, Cause you’re so stubborn, Oh. Cause you’re so stubborn, And you think you’re always right, Cause you’re so stubborn, Oh.
4.
V2: Tell me what abouts you said, You’re blowing all around the wind, Voices calling in my head, Petrified deep within, Introduced without a name, Hold me up against my will, Cause we will love you all the same, That’s the possibility. Ch: You Are My Friends 4x V2: How long has it been my friend, Coming up a year full circle, And I’ll be with you till the end, Accidentally on purpose, And how much do you think regret, Is nothing but a nagging feeling? I was, Crazy to think you’d forget, Cause I think over and over and over and over. Ch: You Are My Friends 4x Br: You Are My Friends 4x Ch: You Are My Friends 8x

about

The EP’s two lead singles ‘Crazy’ and ‘Stubborn’ lyrically ruminate on feelings of self-isolation and frustration, with a common theme of nostalgia for the “before-times” threaded throughout. The lyrical content is often in contrast with the vibrant indie instrumentation and relaxed vocals, giving the music a dream-like sound and aesthetic.

The two remaining tracks ‘Hard To Talk To’ and ‘(You Are My) Friends’ tie up the EP sonically and thematically, acknowledging how friendship has been a shining light in tough times. The colourful synths and energetic drums of ‘(You Are My) Friends’ propel the track forward with Cian’s laid-back vocal delivery culminating in a song teaming with indie-pop attitude.

Speaking about Staying Sane, Godfrey says:
“Staying Sane is my reflection on the last 18 months of my life in Ireland. It’s inspired by another side of my influences, one that hasn’t been heard yet. Music has kept me sane the last while and I hope this EP can do the same for others.”

Written entirely in the west of Ireland, the music, conceptually speaking, details the emotional footprints left from a long road trip along the winding west coast. The memories and friendships forged along the way have woven themselves into the surrounding landscape, tethering the music and its creation to a time and a place - Bundoran, 2020.

If Somebody’s Child's second EP (Hope, Amongst Other Things) was the dark and sober reflection of life as a young person in today’s world, their third and final EP, Staying Sane, is a celebration of life and the relationships that a young person relies on to survive in said world. This forthcoming EP is the final part of a musical puzzle that Somebody’s Child have been putting together since their inception in late-2018, leaving the door open to what could be achieved on the highly anticipated first album.

about

Somebody's Child Dublin, Ireland

Starting his musical journey at age 5 in Paris, Cian Godfrey (AKA Somebody's Child) took to playing the piano in the family apartment. Upon moving back to Ireland, Cian gained an interest in songwriting, enabling him to tell his own stories. These narratives often reflect upon difficult mental health experiences, as well as the endearing happenings of a youngster growing up in Dublin. ... more
