about

Introducing Somebody’s Child, a rising young Irish male singer-songwriter who has been making serious waves in the Irish music scene. His music has drawn comparisons to Arctic Monkeys and Foster the People, and it’s easy to see why, with his effortless combination of indie, alternative and pop.

Following the success of his debut single Make You Alright, which has received airplay on over 25 radio stations with total radio listener impacts in excess of 2 million, as well landing several Spotify editorial playlists, including ‘Hot New Bands’ and 'A Breath of Fresh Eire', and Track of the Day on Hot Press Magazine, Make You Alright draws an end to a project that began a little over a year ago.

Now, Somebody’s Child looks to cement himself with the unveiling of his new release Toes. Produced by Ross Dowling (James Vincent McMorrow, Talos, Bell X1), the track experiments with, and explores the different styles and elements of indie pop music. Both lyrically and melodically driven, Toes is a beautifully-arranged track that highlights Somebody’s Child’s talent for crafting songs that feel both intimate and vast, set against a blissful atmospheric soundscape.

Having honed his sound into captivating alternative that fuses righteous lyrics with dazzling melodies, his latest material is raw and honest. Deeply poignant, Toes capitalises on his ability to engage smart songwriting with unexpected genres, taking cues from the likes of James Bay and Tom Walker. - Liberty PR

lyrics

I'm walking around just checking you out,
Cus I don't think that you,
Have been here before, I want you to know,
That I cannot tell what you want me to do.
So tell me your number and tell me your name,
I'm sick and I'm tired of playing your games.
You've got me all twisted, you've made me feel lost, I can't describe it no I cannot talk.

So baby just come, come home with me, let's take off our clothes and we can be free.
I'll show your my world, I'll give yoh my time, I'll make you feel special, I'll make you alright.

And maybe I'm foolish, and maybe I'm drunk, maybe I'm crazy but who would have thunk.
And we could be perfect, we would be cool, we could be stylish and we would be new.
So stop being cold and stop playing hard, I know you're not bored so throw down your guard.
And finish your drink, I'll buy you two more, if money's the issue then baby we're gold.

So baby just come, come home with me, let's take off our clothes and we can be free.
I'll show your my world, I'll give you my time, I'll make you feel special, I'll make you alright.

And if you don't mind, I'll take you home.
If you don't mind I'll take you home, home.

Starting his musical journey at age 5 in Paris, Cian Godfrey (AKA Somebody's Child) took to playing the piano in the family apartment. Upon moving back to Ireland, Cian gained an interest in songwriting, enabling him to tell his own stories. These narratives often reflect upon difficult mental health experiences, as well as the endearing happenings of a youngster growing up in Dublin. ... more
